My friend was interested in this and just applied to all the papers and magazines

Make contacts at your local newspaper office. Ask them if they'd like to give you a try doing a weekly or monthy column. You could offer to do the first month for free. They'll set it up so people will send questions in for your to answer, and you can put your best ones in your column. If the readers like you its likely they'll keep you and pay you. Then with a local newspaper under your belt, its a springboard to bigger and better mags and papers. Good Luck.

p.s. Thanks goodness you're a trained counsellor - how many times have mags brought in 'celebs' to answer reader's questions and it really makes you cringe - do they really have the knowledge and life skills to be able to be in a position to 'advise' others of the best way forward with their particular issue?? Hmmmm

Send off your CV to magazines/ papers etc. perhaps include a covering letter as to why you think you'd make a good 'agony uncle'
