How does one train to be a weddings Registrar

It's a job I've always wanted to do. I just wondered what qualifications and training were needed to qualify as a registrar. I know that the law is changing fairly soon, and registrars will be licenced rather than the venue. This means weddings will be able to take place practically anywhere.

Registrars don't just deal with happy events. They also have to be able to work with bereaved relatives when recording deaths.

There is a national service that pays you freelance for conducting civil ceremonies such as baby namings, weddings, etc. You have to go through their training programme but the pay is not bad. You can see their website (which lists current vacancies) at
