Easiest Jobs in the world?

well, what are they? I think a train driver must be very easy, and you must get lots of time off to browse web sites and forums all day! Second only to being a full time mum of a toddler, which also allows you to spend far too long each day in front of a pc.

What do other ABers think???

Easiest job I ever had (& I've had a few) was blanking videos for recycling. I would stand at one end of a conveyor belt, which ran through a huge electro-magnet machine thing to my mate at the other end a few feet away. I would put the videos on one end, he would take them off. Sometimes if we wanted a challenge, we'd swap places.

Another mate had a job arguably easier than that though - he used to sit & watch emu eggs hatch. When one started to hatch, he'd go & tell somebody.

LMAO fatboy!! but wouldn't really, really boring jobs like that actually be quite difficult?? Personally, I'd find it hard to get out of bed in the morning to go and do something that hideously mind numbing. And how do you stay awake? Boredom is very tiring. How long did you do the video job for??

I had a job once which entailed reading the daily papers.

Each morning I would go to the library and get the papers. I'd then sit down for a couple of hours checking them for any mention of the company. If an article mentioned us, I'd cut it out, photo copy it and file it. During my time with them, my current affairs knowledge was second to none!

The other 6 hours of the day was spent sending emails, playing patience and Mahjjong (sp?). Maybe some more photo-copying and filing...

Hi Kicks, i'm a train driver, and your welcome to try it if you think its easy, the actual driving is fairly easy, but its not just that, you have to have a good knowledge of the Rules and Regulations, that includes everything about the track, signals, station side, what to do in every concievable situation, then there's Train Equipment, if the train breaks down, its our job to get it moving again, because there's very few places another can get past, and thats just a few of the things we have to know and do.

We have to have a licence to drive them, and we are tested every year, with minor test throughout the year.

Apparently, we can now put email addresses on this site, som if you, or anyone else would like to see how 'easy' it is, put yours on, i'll get in touch, and arrange a couple of days on a train, with me or another driver, so you can find out.

Oh Lonnie sweetie, I am so sorry for offending you. Genuinely, that was not my intention. In all honesty, I put this question on here to wind up another ABer who is also a train driver. It was just banter, hence the bit about full time mums - I mean who thinks that's an easy job? That's what I do and it's the hardest (but best) job I've ever had, btu I was kind of takign teh p1sh out of myself too. If I need to reassure you further about my respect for train drivers, there was a thread recently about suicides and I'd posted that every time I read about a jumper, my first thoughts are immediately for the train driver. It must be unbelieveably horrible, and I have no idea how they ever manage to drive a train again. My friend (who I was lamely trying to tease with this question) has never had a jumper, and I sincerely hope you never ever have that to face either.

please believe me, I am truly sorry for appearing to belittle your job or be cheeky. I honestly have the utmost respect for what you do, and don't think I could cope with the prospect of someone killing themselves using the train I was driving.

Hi kick3m0n, Thanks for that, really, if i'd read your post properly, I should have realised it was 'tongue in cheek', so now its my turn to apologise, My wife, many moons ago, gave up her job to become a full time mother, so I know how fullfilling a job that is, and hard work.

morning kick3m0n. Must admit, it does help if you have a high boredom threshold. The video job was just a temp job for a couple of months before we went away for the summer. The time went surprisingly quickly but only because we were surrounded by a huge mountain of videos, which we were allowed to watch while we blanked the others. We got to see classics like "Lights, Camera, F**kwit" & "When DIY Goes Bad". Never figured out why they were being recycled.
