A C&G wont get you far, and it pictures that do the talking. Its a well competetive industry and be prepared for a few knocks.

Its helpful if you join the union of journalists. Then take your folio to the local rag and start from there. The odd position comes up now and again, and has a high turn over cos its not very exciting at a junior level.

Most big papers use agencies like Reuters nowerdays for most of the stuff and in house positions are rare. The beauty of digital I'm afraid.

You could get yourself a CB radio (shh naughty) and a moped. Thats what the Paps do. Other than that try the aop.org for info or the NUJ.
