what does pro rata mean? i applied for a job that was 15,617 for 20hours a week but have just seen pro rata written next to it - i'm guessing this means i dont get this amount for 20 hours - thought it sounded to good to be true!!!
If possible try to find out how many hours constitutes their full time positions as this will affect the pro rata wage. I worked the 8k out on the basis of a 39hour full time week.
Don't forget that any other associated benefits coming with the job with also be pro rata too. i.e. if the annual holiday allowance is 25 days for a 40 hour week, you will only get twelve and a half days if you work 20 hours.
not necessarily, bluejonjo. many employers don't pay for a lunchbreak. 1 hour per day equates to a 35 hour paid week and 30 mins a day equates to a 37.5 hour paid week. it it this number of hours that is used for pro ratering, not hours on site.
