I have a part-time job (outside of school)

I had a rough time to begin with, but since reporting trouble to my boss it got a lot better, the only thing that stopped me from resigning in the first place, was because my boss asked me not to. (as a favour) But now he is leaving, and someone new will be taking his place in a few weeks time. I am worried that I will not get along with my new boss, and if he doesn't like me, I felt that the only reason the other workers were nice to me just because my boss took me under his wing, as my now boss was and still is sympathetic to my feelings. And since he was the only reason I stayed, is there nothing stopping me?

I have also been interested in working somewhere else in the same industry, is this a decent reason to leave, or am I wrong to do so?

You should move on because you feel it's right to do so. Never stay anywhere you don't feel comfortable (for what ever reason) and certainly be selfish about your reasons. You don't actually owe anyone anything. Move on to both further your career potential and your experience.

You say you are doing this job outside of school - can you imagine if you did this job full time and were stuck in a rut because you bills etc that relied upon it? Don't let the bad patterns start now! Do what you want to do! Make sure you get your current boss's contact details and keep him as a referee for future job applications!
