For an idea of the level of remuneration given to an MP in the form of a wage, ministerial supplements (where applicable) and expenses read this, but bear in mind that the article is a year old so does not reflect the most recent pay increase voted for by themselves (I believe the basic pay is now around 59,000).
More detailed information of the expenses claimed by each MP is available here.

futher to previous answers i think the wage for a normal mp has now increased to nearly 61k. Should an MP lose their seat at an election most have something that they can fall back upon be this a business of their own or an expertise in a field of study. If they do not have a business for something else imediate then their parliamentary experience will be invaluable to lobbying companies and NGO's. So an MP should not be short of work should they lose at an election.
