Recently returned from living abroad
3 Answers
I have recently returned from living abroad for over 4 years and I am having a terrible time trying to get a full time job. I worked extremely hard and gained a lot of valuable experience in many areas. Unfortunately ,after mailing my CV, at best all I get is a letter of rejection but more often than not I hear nothing. I have previous (UK) experience in project management and quality systems. All the agencies I have visited have been unhelpful and I am now temping in a warehouse to make ends meet. Any suggestions?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Get someone neutral to look at your cv & see if you come across as positive "I gained a wealth of experience..." or negative "unfortunately, I have not been in the UK for several years.." It's just a possibility that rewording your cv might make the difference.
The other thing to go for is personal contact - instead of posting your cv, try dropping it in, if possible handing it to the relevant person, or at least making the receptionist realise what a pleasant, polite (& good looking!) person you are. This has worked for me in the past & I believe is a known way of tipping the balance.
Good luck.
