I am thinking of returning to work as a temp but the agencies are useless. Where can I find some part time typing or secretarial work, from home or in local offices, apart from using agencies? I am in Surrey

Down here, the library posts up the vacancies list from the local Council and the County council, you can also go to the local hospital and have a look on their noticeboards, as they advertise jobs in a bulletin. You can also go onto the websites of both of these places. You could also try your local freesheet newspapers, local papers, post office noticeboards, place an advert yourself in the post office, offering your services, ask around amongst your friends and family who work in different places, ring up some of your old employers and ask if there are any vacancies, ring round local companies and ask. Lots of jobs out there are never advertised, you have to go looking for them. No-one's just going to come banging on your door with an offer!

Thanks Kim, I'll give it a try.
I think that whether you want temporary or permanent work, an agency is not the way to go. I've also had nothing but terrible and time-wasting experiences with them - Reed in particular.
