Please help with my interview at M & S Simply Food

After years of being self employed I've got an interview in which I will be put into a situation to show my "amazing skills at customer service". Any ideas what I may have to do and any advice on interview techniques would be greatfully received.

Well they may give you a test which will involve an irate or difficult customer ... try to remain calm and precise and one trick is to side with the customer and say how you realise that it must be very frustrating for them and that you are glad they have brought it to your attention so that you will be able to put things right. As long as you are calm you could make up your own solution and have a phrase ready, like 'as a goodwill gesture we will be sending you a �10 voucher' and that in large organisations mistakes can sometimes happen and that you take it very seriously etc. You will be more confident if you have something ready to say. They may ask you for an example of when you have made a decision so have something ready. Look up the website of M & S and try and get that into the interview ..i.e. "I noticed on the website that you are doing more for recycling and I am a great believer in that" or something along those lines, as it shows you have been interested and earns you points. Finally remember to smile as you leave looking them directly in the eye and say "thank you for seeing me and I do hope I will be hearing from you".

I agree with the previous post, read the website and quote from it, green issues are good, mention M&S organic range, don't forget to say how M&S are perceived (well!) by the average consumer etc.
My daughter recently got a job with Waitrose, her usual goth look was replaced by hair tied back, light make up, short unpolished nails. She wore black trousers with a white shirt and a red belt and pumps so (in her words) she wouldn't look like she is going to a funeral!
(She has worked four days now, the eyeliner is getting progressively heavier each day, I'm sure she'll be told off soon!!!!)
