What happens at a 2nd interview?
3 Answers
I have a 2nd interview for a job. I've never been to one before and I'm not sure how to prepare. I displayed my knowledge of the company, interest in the job, and asked all my questions in the 1st interview. What are they looking for in the 2nd interview?
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

Present at the second interview will probably be your future departmental boss, and possibly somebody from another department such as IT if the job is of a technical or computer-based role for example, or somebody who is familiar with the work.
I suspect they will be wanting to test your ability to perform the role according to the job description (presume you asked for one and were given a copy), and background on your previous job, the tasks you performed and how you solved any difficult problems which came your way. They may also want to test your interpersonal skills and see how you would fit it with the rest of the team, and how promotable you are in the longer term., and whether you bring any new skills which are not possessed by other members of the team. You may be asked some of the same questions again, but possibly from a different angle. This will also be your opportunity to ask more detailed questions about the job, what the skills are in the rest of the team and how you might fit in, plus how the company would help you develop and enhance your own skills within the department by providing extra training, exposure to new learning situations, etc.

Well done! You've got over the frst hurdle. Now you have to shine. I endorse the excellent advice given above. Go over and sharpen up on everything you know about the company. Please come up with some questions....I am never impressed by someone who has NOTHING to ask at 2nd interview. You may well be asked to comment on how you would respond in difficult situations - without knowing what field you are in, it is hard to be specific, you will have to try and anticipate that for yourself.
Whatever you did at first interview obviously impressed them, so put on your best smile and go and do it all again!
Good luck!

I know that for a couple of "second interviews" we have held, we had the person in the office where they would be working to assess their abilities and also to see if they can interact with those already here, we are only a small team of 4 so it is important for all to feel comfortable with each other.
