As you mention weddings, it would definately be an idea to place advertisements in wedding magazines. Maybe even contact wedding planners and event organisers to see if they could send some work your way. You could also maybe see if some card shops (the boutique style ones, not Clintons etc) would be willing to advertise your service in exchange for you maybe using their stationery? Best of luck - if you are starting out a new business, then weddings is definately one of the best fields to be in, people spend incredible amounts of money on then!!
cory there is a huge market for this art in the world of genealogy. You can take commissions to do the pedigree charts, this is very very popular in the US and canada and you can advertise on the internet and get all the info u need vis the web too, It can be something that you link to the wedding business as when two families come together, it makes it a very relevent present.
Yes, I can see a niche market for that. I think you'd have to have a website with samples, plus would it be worth exhibiting at those wedding fair things (never been to one so I dont really know).
Hi cory

You should try to target the higher end of the wedding market as they will be more interested in more unique cards etc - and will have the money to pay for them.

Try approaching other wedding services in your area. Keep to the small exclusive outlets Bridal gowns, photographers, limo hire or vintage car hire, florists, etc. Suggest that you will do free work for them if they promote your services to their clients. For example you could do hand written cards for the wedding flowers. Be very specific in your offer as you are doing it for nothing.

Later you will know who to continuing to partner with and who to ditch, depending on how many referrals you get from each of your "partners".
