Mature entry to teaching or nursing ...

If i am mid thirties and looking for a complete career change is it realistic to think I could get into teaching ? I have no A levels just 2 GCSE and an o level ... does enthusiasum count ??!! And what about nursing ... ?

You could possibly get onto a Diploma of Higher Education Nursing course with your O-Level and GCSEs, although I think Maths would need to be one of them. They may ask if you have any relevant experience (auxiliary work etc.) too though.

Not sure about teaching, but I thought the usual route was a degree in teaching itself, or a first degree then a post-graduate PGCE. You could maybe try a job as a teaching assistant first to see if you actually like it, the same with nursing and a care assistant job first?

You need 5 O Levels or GCSE's at grades C or above to go into nursing.

I think you need to make up your mind what it is you want to do teaching or nursing, then go to night school and get the qualifications.

Teaching requires a university degree. There are various paths to get there but there are some essentials, such as qualifications in mathematics, which you must have first. there is an access to higher education course that you can do that will be the same as 3 A levels its a one year course and most are free. From there you can choose what you want to do. Either the three year nursing course or teaching followed by the PGCE.
