I'm afraid an ecdl in and of itself is pretty useless! You'll need to have other skills as well!

Yes, it is a fairly basic qualification in the use and application of ICT, so you'd need other skills and experience if you're going to take it into the workplace.

I work for our local council, and ECDL is the minimum qualification they like their administrative staff to have. It forms part of basic induction training for staff who start without it, although I have IBT3 (I think it's CLAIT 3 these days), which exceeds the requirement and so I didn't have to take it.

If you're looking to train for a career in admin, then you might want to think about a job or scheme that offers NVQ Admin training or something similar.

i wouldnt say its useless but saxy_jag said, you ned more skills. Maybe to top up the skills with the ecdl you already have.

The fact that you have completed ecdl is good, better than nothing!!
If you are presentable, can answer the phone in a polite and courteous manner, you may wish to apply for receptionist jobs and state you have the ecdl qualification. This will be seen as advantageous.
By having this qualification you will be able to apply for administration jobs - just because some organisations see this as the minimum remember others see it as just what they are looking for. Good Luck !
