I'm currently jobhunting for the first time in years and what's becoming apparent is that recruitment agenices are really poor at communicating!!
For example, I have attended interviews via the agency and they can't even be bothered to let me know whether I was successful or not!!
They don't come across as very professional - aren't they supposed to follow some sort of rules like estate agents do or can they just get away with it?

If they didn't get in touch it"s probably because you didn't get the job. Not all job agencys are bad at communicating only some. Just keep persevering and I'm sure things will go OK. It happens quiet a lot that when you go to a company via an agency if theyre impressed with you they offer you a permenant job. Good luck.
Hi rogerab,

I'm sorry to hear that you have received such a bad service,
I work as a recruitment consultant and one of the things I make sure I do is let candidates know what is going on.
Unfortunately they are alot of people out there who work in recruitment who do not think the same as me.

They don't realise that you are sat waiting for their call about something that is very important you to.

All I can suggest is that you call the agency and ask to speak to the manager.
Tell them what has happened and say that you expect to be kept informed as to what is going on.

Good Luck
fair play to parkers, but my own personal experience of agencies is not a very positive one. After registering with a stack of agencies, doing all of the relevant computer tests etc for each one, i had to chase and chase for feedback on applications and interviews. in the end i gave up on them and applied for jobs directly in the newspapers. had a fantastic response and got offered several jobs which i could then take the pick of.

try going it alone as well, and don't rely only on the agencies.
yep. ditto. Found agencies generally less than useless.
I'm yet to find good agency I have registered with lots but some I have never heard from yet see jobs on their websites or their adverst in the local paper that seem to be what I'm after. When they do contact me it is often aboutn a job in one of the locations I have told them I don't want to work. I don't feel that they listen or are interested in and are just chasing their own comission really. I now look myself in the local paper
