School staff still not being fully vetted
2 Answers
Hundreds of thousands of people are working in schools without having full background checks. After the 2002 Soham murders ministers promised a tough vetting system to protect schoolchildren from paedophiles, but the system will not come into force for another year. Schools were told last month that teachers and other existing staff members do not have to be fully vetted, nor do new recruits who move directly from another school. What do you think about this? Should existing teachers/staff members be fully vetted? Or do you think that existing school staff should be exempt from vetting checks?

They decided to start this last year in December and have recently completed the process. These CRB checks will now be carried out on a regular basis to ensure that none go longer than 3 years.
