The term
SAT (now, the letters don't actually have a meaning, but previous to 1994 they meant
Scholastic Assessment Test) may only apply in the U.S., I don't know about the U.K. It is given here seven times yearly and there's a small charge (around $50) for the test. It consists of three divisions and a person can elect which test(s) they wish to take.
