Is it possible for an employer to find out if you have been claiming benefits when you start new with them?

with working in a jobcentre i would doubt very much they would be able to find out?
we dont give out information in that way "data protection". it would be pureley up to you to tell him.

unless they can tell by the p45 you supply as the jobcentre will issue you one and usually the employer wants your last p45.

yes but if I say I didnt get a p45 form then they will emergency tax me at first, right?
why would you not want an employer to know you were claiming benefits anyway?
Unless you've telt them "porkies" about yir employment history, what's the problem wi yir being on benefit?
yeah you'd be on emergency tax.

people can be on benefits for all sorts of reasons, nothing really to be ashamed of?

Yes cos Ive been on it for a while. How do you explain what youve been doing during that time? Doesnt look good does it?
