My daughter is 16 and intends working in Forensics particularly the criminial investigations side, (CSI has a lot to answer for! lol). She is going to college to do Applied Science for a year followed by a National Diploma in Forensic Science for 2 years and then hopefully a degree. She is very bright but unfortunately has been unwell for 21/2 years which is why she is doing 3 years at college instead of straight to the Forensics diploma. She would like if possible to do her degree in the USA and then get a job there is this possible? Or should she do a degree here and then see if she can work over in the States. She has had a really horrible couple of years and is now so positive about everything iwould hate to have to burst her balloon so any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
not sure about the logistics of getting a working visa for the states, but I do know that fees for US universities are very high (in the tens of thousands of pounds) so beware!
I work in a UK university that has a high intake of US students because they believe that a UK degree is valued more highly than an American one. SO that's something to think about too.
I wish your daughter lots of luck and sounds like she has chosen a really interesting career path!
Now the bad news. In the UK there are many more Forensic graduates than there are jobs. However, most degree courses also provide a qualification in Analytical Chemistry (worthwhile in itself) as a backup.
