Get rich scheme

Has anyone recently received a letter basically its a form of chain letter where you add your name to the bottom of the name list and send 10 to the person on the top of the list and then post another 200 letters out to random people, who will in turn do the same and the idea is when your name eventually ends up on the top of the name list you will receive lots of 10 notes! Would like to hear from anyone to see if this works!

In theory they should work, however people always break the chain so that they don't.
Let's face it, how many people have the spare cash or time to post 200 letters? And even if they did, each one of those 200 people has to find another 200 to send it to that hasn't had the letter already from someone else.
The ones at the beginning probbaly make money, the ones a bit further down the chain won't.

It's probably the oldest scam going - it certainly pre-dates the Internet by some years.
What you have to think about any letter from a stranger promising you money is - if your scheme is that good, why do you feel the need to share it with complete strangers?
It's not hard to figure it out from there.

I know someone who gave it a go - I think even with stamps etc the whole cost was under 20 so she sent off her 10 and over 200 envelopes to addresses picked at random from a phone book in another part of the country.
As far as I know she didn't receive a penny.
But then, I know lots of people who have bought more than 20 of lottery tickets and no-one says they're a scam - there is a chance of getting some real money, it's just highly unlikely!
