What to do if you get sacked!

Seriously, I got sacked last year for something that I absolutely did not do. I'm currently waiting for the Employment Tribunal's decision, but in the meantime, I have not been able to get a job - of any description.
For a bit of background, I was always rewarded for being a high performing employee, I had never had any disciplinary issues before I got sacked and was highly respected by peers and managers. I was earning approx �30k, and redundancy was on the cards in my peer group.
I'd worked for this company for over 10 years, and couldn't believe what they did to me.
Has anyone ever been in this situation? I've managed to keep the debtors away so far, but am now looking at my home being repossessed. Any advice whatsoever will be gratefully received. ( I know that there is a section about money/careers etc but no-one seems to post there!)

To Elvis - I can assure you that I am completely innocent of my ex employer's allegations, and would never have thought that such spurious allegations could be brought - so beware!
My main concern is getting back into employment - so any help will be much apppreciated.

i dont mean to but in here but if you got sacked last year, why are you still waiting on the tribunal? i would of thought that would have been done and dusted by now? or at least the deadline would have past for you to have a complaint?
if you want my advice i think you need to jump into any job you can find and build your career from there, at least in a few yaers time when you have rebuilt your status you can say you did it the hard way instead of waiting for the "right" job to come along?

agent smith - believe me, i have tried to jump into any job!
after i was dismissed, i followed all of the procedures, and have been to tribunal - evidence eventually took a week.
I am still waiting for a judgement, but it seems that prospective employers are not willing to employ me whilst this case is ongoing.

Just to clarify, I got sacked in May 2006, the tribunal was set for November, but I had 'too much evidence' against my previous employers, so the case was moved to February, with more time set aside. More time was needed and we reconvened in April. Then the panel needed time to consider.
So for anyone who thinks that these things are over within a matter of weeks, unfortunately its not the case.
And meantime, I can't get a bloody job!

I doubt that the fact that youve been sacked is whats causing the lack of new employment but rather the ongoing tribunal. Do you have to declare that at a job interview?
There will always be jobs that you can get, even if its shelf stacking for minimum wage but I can understand why you would want to go for a higher paying job as its what youre used to.

But you say you were in line for redundancy anyway? What would you have done if/when you were made redundant? There's plenty of jobs out there if you don't mind what you do - someone mentioned shelf stacking for instance. If you are that desperate you'd do any job. Have you been applying for all these jobs or are you looking for something particular?
I've applied for all kinds of jobs with all kinds of employers!! The trouble with the minimum wage type jobs is that I'm over-qualified (so they say!)
The better paying jobs are overly cautious because of my circumstances. I am being upfront with potential employers, because I would hate to get a job under false pretences, then spend the whole time worrying that they will find out.

Not telling them about a tribunal isnt false pretence. It has no real bearing on a new position but could put employers off.
As for being overqualified for lower paid jobs, just trim your CV when applying for those types of positions.
Your house is at risk as youve already said, so why not try and take anything that comes up for the short term.

You should fill in a job application or submit a CV that is tailored to the requirements of the job you are applying for, if you are going for a job in customer service you would highlight your people skills, if you were going for a job in manufacturing you would highlight your ability to pay attention to detail. etc, job applications are jusdged on a candidates suitablity for what they would be required to do, most applcations ask about criminal records and it is an offence to without the info but it is not a requirement to spill out your deepest dark secreats nor to shoot yourself in the foot before you even get it in the door.
