Exam Marking

Hi, does anyone know if you can become an exam marker if you are not a teacher but have a degree?

Examination boards always require 'recent & relevant' teaching experience:

I used to work for an exam board and all markers were teachers.

In Scotland (for the SQA) you have to have presented students at the particular exam for 3 years before you can apply to be a marker.
