help needed

Hi My son has got a job he really wants.They want him to start soon but he is under contract to the gas company he now works for to give 3 months notice.The company he is joining will accept as maximum 2 months otherwise they will readvertise..Is there a way out of this.Please help

He can give notice, use up any outstanding holiday time as part of the notice period or he could leave and not get paid.
Some companies on giving notice, let you go as soon as they know.
