P.E teacher

My son (15) is expressing an interest in becoming a P.E teacher. The thing is, he's not particularly academic, lacks motivation to study and to be perfectly honest, i don't think he has the makings to do it.
However, he's my son and i want to support any decisions he makes. I really need a bit of information so i can inform his of his best options.
What i want to know is, what does the training involve. What qualifications will he need, how long is the course etc....any information will be gladly recvieved.

He will need at least two A levels and then do a degree in Sports and Physical Education or Sports Science - this will take three years.

Then he will need to study for a PGCE - one year - which will give him qualified teacher status.

The University of Bedford does it as an 'all in one' 4 year course - their entry requirements are here:

As you can see, they are asking for two A levels and 5 good GCSEs, including English and Maths.

As an alternative he could do an advanced diploma in Sports Therapy/ nutrition & biology are included and look at becomming a physio or fitness trainer.
