Working abroad

I have recentley lost my job as a sales manager. This is the 2nd job in sales I have lost this year so I have decided that sales is not my forte!! I am going on holiday (luckily pre paid for!) in less then 2 weeks so I decided not to do anything about a perm job till I get back and use this time to catch up on things
I am thinking now that I have a fantastic oppertunity to do something a bit different. I am nearly 30 and I am single, no kids, no mortgage. Instead of seeing this as a bad thing (which has been my mindset for a while) I am seeing as a positive and I am hoping to go do some work in Europe for a while and experince some different cultures/ways of life
Does anybody have any advice or suggestions? It is all a very vague plan at the moment so any input is appreciated!!

Do you speak the language of your prospective new place of residence?
Personally, I would use the holiday to research the concept of living abroad, but but not make a change on that basis alone - without coming home and thinking it through thoroughly. A country wherein you enjoy the holiday of your dreams will not necessarily be the place to relocate to and spend the rest of your life in.

My holiday is in South Africa and although I would love to move back there (I lived there as a teenager) I don't think that is the right place for me with all the problems they have
I was thinking somewhere like Spain, Greece i.e easy fro me to come home if it doesn't work out and also easy for friends & family to visit

Your prospects are limited in Spain and Greece without a working knowledge of the language; bar work and travel rep etc., tourism related work (low pay, long hours).
Never mind what you might have heard, you cannot make a go of permanent (or even long term) residence without a decent grasp of the language. There are those who have been lucky for a while but sooner or later they come cropper.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I am looking into completing a course to teach English as a second language
Re the South African thing of course in theory with appartheid ending the country should be a nicer safer place but the effects are going to be felt for quite a while yet and at the moment it is a very unstable place with a appalling currency (currently R14 - 1). You can not take away the fact that it is without doubt one of the most beautiful places on earth but is deeply troubled, as sadly is most of the African continent
