Cover Letter

Hi all, I'm applying for a great sounding job online and am typing up a cover letter to go with it, but the advert doesn't include a contact name at all. Who do you think I should make the letter out to? Is there a 'general' term I should use?

You could use To whom it may concern.
If the advert got a telephone then phone up and ask who to address too on the letter.

'Dear Sirs' is the standard address when writing to a company rather than an individual. It is 'Yours faithfully' at the end, not 'yours sincerely'. Avoid "dear sir or madam' as if sounds naff.

Dear Mr. Herbert,

I write this letter for the job position as Marketing Assistant that was posted in Sunday Gazette yesterday. I would like to submit my application for the said post.

I am 25 years of age and I acquired a Marketing Degree in college. I graduated as Cum Laude at the University of Mississippi in the year 2006.

In terms of qualification, I already worked as marketing associate at the NHYU Corporation since the time I graduated until this present time.
