Have you checked out the templates on MS Word?

Maxie has beaten me to the first part of my answer. Word has some suitable templates but they're hidden away under the American name 'resume'.

In Word 2002, this is how you find them (It's probably very similar on other versions of Word):
File > New > New from Template > General Templates > Other Documents > Contemporary Resume (or Elegant Resume or Professional Resume). You'll also find a 'Resume Wizard' in the same place.

The second part of my answer is to suggest that many recruitment agencies have websites which include advice on completing a c.v., together with a master document to download. One such agency is Colchester-based Pyramid Recruitment. (Click on 'this format' to download their template, in Word format):
