Working for the Police

I've nearly completed my degree in biomedical sciences and don't know why but last night I thought it'll be cool to do some police work.
What sort of jobs do they have, I don't want to be an officer/detective type person and there aren't many forensics jobs about so was wondering what other science based jobs they have.

As far as I'm aware you have two choices. You could work as a scenes of crime civilian for the police or work for the home office at one of the forensic labs.

This site has all the jobs in the police.
They are hard to come by and even as a soco you owuld need to do the police course as well, there are also fingerprint experts but most forensic work are done throught the forensic science laboratories and now even private firms.
you cannot join as a detective, you join as a police constable and if that is the area you wish tom move into, can expect to wait at least 5 years, unless you are exceptional.
