Where do you stand if your employer doesent pay you?
3 Answers
My Girlfriend works for a new nursery in south london, her employer is very slack when it comes to paying her staff. She is now a week late on this months payment. When she does pay my girlfriend, it is by cheque and then this takes another week to clear.
Where do you stand, can you refuse to work untill she is paid or will this just cause problems.
Your help on this matter will be greatly appreaceated.

There's very little excuse for not paying on time - if it's down to cash flow then it should only happen occasionally, even in a small business. If it was me I'd start looking for another job with an employer who cares a bit more.
the writing is on the wall, apart from breach of contract she is obviously going skint,
i would suggest getting another job immediately remembering that if it suits dont bother to give notice because of the employers breach,
then send a letter giving seven days to cough up all money due uncluding your statutory right to paid holiday , minimum of 24 days p.a.
otherwise sue straght away in the county court,
