Help with percentages!!

Can someone please tell me how you work out the percentage of things on a calculator? I have completely forgotten and it is really annoying me. Im no good at maths at the best of times but percentages was my best maths subject.

So for instance 20% of �65 I know its something like 20 divided by 100 times 65 or 65 divided 20 times 100?? I just dont know anymore. Can someone please tell me the formula and also the answer to these so I can study them

35% of 450

15% of 97

67% of 1,150

35/100 x 450= 157.5

15/100 x 97 = 14.55

or

0.67 x 1150 = 770.5

to find out what percentage something is of something:

17 apples is ? % of 254 apples:

17/254 x 100 = 6.69%

You divide the amount by 100 and then time the percentage. So for example 35% of 450:

divide 450 by 100 = 4.50

4.50 x the 35%

= 157.50

forgot to say the reason why you divide by 100 is to find how much 1% would be. Once you know how much the 1% is you times it by the 35 to get the 35%.

multiply by the percentage required

450 x (0).35

97 x .15

1150 x .67
