usually btec national diplomas are the equivalent of the "a level" stage of education therefore either a diploma in higher education or degree, both done at uni

A National Diploma is a level 3 qualification so your next step is a level 4 or 5 one. You could do an HNC (at College, not Uni) or a degree.
