5 Answers
i would like to organise and run my own workshops in a few different subjects that i have learnt over the years.
can anyone point me in the direction of a website or somewhere that i can learn how to put together a course and system and lesson plans etc...just need some guidance of where to start...
I learnt all my knowledge on indepth courses over many years, so I have not learnt them from workshops myself.
Thanks

So sort out your stall in those terms ie what's the product, who is it for, what does it cost etc and use the many small business advice books and websites fo guidance. Make sure you are looking at recent UK advice, not US, in legal and tax terms. You need to think of the costs of starting up, overheads, and how much you want to earn in profit.
Especially if you intend dealing with minors, you mustobtain a personal CRB check. This can be difficult as mostly this is done on behalf of employees rather than by oneself - sometimes local business organisations may help you get it.
You will need insurance and will need to be clear about what you are insuring for.
Most libraries have extensive sections on starting a business and I recommend you use them.

hi lil, thanks for that!
I am already freelance so thankfully have some knowledge of that sort of thing - though haven't had to do crb and insurance yet.
I wanted some info on the workshops themselves though - how to structure sessions, lesson plans, how to engage the kids, what employers will expect from me etc etc
