For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I think you need to phone your local job centre and make an appointment to fill in claim forms etc. They may ask for ID so taking a passport and proof of address with you may be advisable. They should tell you what you will need to take when you phone them, they will probably want recent wage slips too. My daughter's boyfriend was recently laid off from work(he's a plasterer) and had to sign on for the first time ever since leaving school and he was so confused and demoralised by it all.Luckily he is now working again,I hope you manage to get another job soon.
before you visit the job centre ring this number (the job centre will only tell you to do this anyway)
0800 055 6688
you will be able to register here and they will give you an appointment at your local job centre, then you take all your details with you.
