Really not sure where to post this so I thought this was as good a place as any. Any advice gratefully welcome on this one guys. OK, here's my dilemma. My son is 10 and goes swimming once a week with school. The only problem is that our school has no male teaching staff and therefore the boys are unsupervised in the changing room. Is this right? Due to the amount of PERVS about these days and as the pool and changing rooms are open to the rest of the public during the times of school lessons, do you think I am being over sensitive or would you be worried too? Oh, and NO Gary Glitter jibes please. Cheers in advance
hi sara. The only prob with asking a parent is that whoever goes will have to be police checked, which takes months. I also worry about the safety aspect, wet floors and unruly 10 year old, not a good combo...
I also wondered if they HAVE to be supervised, not by law but under the 'Elf n Safety' rules.
it's a sorry reflection on todays' society, but yes I would be concerned too.
As sara pointed though out it's not just for the reasons you mentioned (pervs as you put it) but they would muck about in the changing room and thats a fairly dangerous place to muck about.
hi mrs o. They have already asked the leisure centre concerned, they just siad they haven't got available staff and it is not their problem but the schools. It's a difficult one this. I am seriously thinking of stopping him going until it's sorted. He's a brilliant swimmer anyway and goes with his dad at least once a week, so it's not as though he's missing out
Debbz, I share your concerns.
My 8 year old son is mortified when I make him use the ladies changing room so I can keep an eye on him.
I am simply not going to risk him using the mens changing room.
