MOD security clearnce

Hello there..

Hope you can advise me here.

Recently been offered some subcontract construction work on various MOD bases through out the southwest.

But... I require security clearance first....

I have a couple of drug offences on record.... just got a fine in each case. One being in 2000 and the other last year.

Could this go against me, or may I stand a chance ?

you may stand a chance. TBH they dont really care what you have done unless you are trying to hide it. They dont want you to be in the position where someone could say to you "give me the mod secrets or i'll tell your wife/gfriend/parents about your drug convictions"
if you are not open about them, it will go against you and they will find out. As construction is a safety critcal profession, they may also be a bit iffy re drugs, but the security clearance is not looking at that. If they think you still have a drug habit, you are again in a blackmailable position "give me the secrets and i'll pay you loads of money ...." type thing

I agree with the previous answer, but be aware that if you start work you will be subject to random drug and alcohol sampling, same as everyone else will be, and if you fail and loose your clearance there is unlikely to be a second chance.
