aneurysm
2 Answers
My friend has been recovering from a brain aneurysm for about a year now. However last Christmas was knocked down and broke upper shoulder and leg. She was working in the care system for 32 years and since her year is up of wages is she is of their financial books and is getting paid ESA (Ibb merged with Income Support). Even though she has heard nothing from her work as she has applied for medical retirement - they are now starting to interview her for jobs. What is this in the name of G d

If she wants medical retirement, she has to be unable to do any work, not just the job she was in prevously. Is there any possibility she could do anything? Has she got brain damage from the aneurysm? can she physically sit? Use a computer? use the phone? If she can do the above she may well be suitable for something else from the same employer. It is notoriously difficult to get medical retiement, and if she does her esa will stop or be reduced.
if she wants to find out what is happening re medical retirement, why dsen't she just get in touch and ask?

thanks bednobs - she has applied for medical retirement but it is taking quite a while. I myself am medically retired -although from another type of job but it took 5 months from the day the "big doctor" said I was medically retired until I was officially retired. Oh definitely she has requested medically retirement as I say she is just waiting.
However I looked ESA on the internet and because it is a benefit - it does say it is a new benefit which will try and get sick and disabled people back into the workforce. No this friend is "slow" and went to a special needs school - could not use a computer - my sister makes her phonecalls for her so was only able to be in the care system. Anyway thanks for your interest.
