Teamwork teambuilding ideas for teens
4 Answers
I am working in a youth club as a volunteer and this evening I have to provide a teambuilding exercise that will last 5-10 mins for 5 teenage boys preferably with no physical contact between them.
Preferably a problem solving exercise is great where they have to work together as a team instead of individuals.
On a previous session we provided them with a blanket which they had to all stand on and then attempt to turn the blanket over with out stepping off the blanket, this was a real success so any ideas similar to this is great. I have brain fog and need some inspiration.....
Any help is greatly appreciated xx

Give them some objects....a chair....plank of wood....a few magazines etc...things that will take a persons weight when stood on. Tell them to all stand on one blanket the objects can be in reach near them. They have to place one object once into the space between the two islands. The exercise is to get everyone to the other island without touching the floor (only standing on the placed objects). Maybe make a time limit or a rule where each object can only be placed once.
This is too late, but useful for another time.
Give them some old newspapers, some string, sellotape and a pair of scissors and get them to build a bridge across a 1m wide space. The bridge should be able to take the weight, at its centre, of a given object for, say, 30 seconds. With more than one group, you could make a competition of it.
If you want something a little more physical and you have the resources, lay a plank on the floor and get them to stand side by side on it, in random order. Then ask them to arrange themselves in a given order (e.g. height, age, alphabetic name) without any of them stepping off the plank. It's a great exercise in trust and teamwork.
