ordinary time earnings
e.g. if I work on a sunday i get a £30 supplementary payment, but i only work 1 in 4 sundays. If you work over i think it is 43 hours a week, you get paid at time and a half for the hours over that amount, (it may be 42 actually) plus if you work a bank holiday and you get double or triple time, that is not ordinary time,

Thank you....back to the job agency pages now!
can also stand for On Target Earnings
if it is a sales job it may be you only earn the advertisaed salary if you reach your target Jumbuck, in which case avoid those jobs at all cost crapmemory
It stands for On Target Earnings, where a wage is made up of basic + bonus.
Never heard of Ordinary Time Earnings, Dot. On Target Earnings is the only OTE I am familiar with.
i thought it meant Over Time Earnings
Same here - On Target Earnings. It means that's what you could earn if you hit your minimum targets. It's a term you usually find in advertisements sales and marketing type job.
I've also heard it used for Ongoing Temporary Employment, where they take on temps so as not to have to give them all the advantages of full time employment. They then renew the temporary employment when the initial contract period is up.
