This year I intend to give up my job and mortgage to move away and become a student again. I can't wait, but I am also rather nervous. Is this a rash thing to do at 35?! Has anyone else done this, and lived to tell the tale?

yep....i went to college for three years when i was 30 and it was the best thing i ever did...follow your heart...feel proud that you have made a decision to better your life....i have never looked back and am now much happier in life.....good luck
Yes, I went to art college at 35 and graduated 3 years later.  I then went on to pursue the career I always wanted.  It's never too late to follow your ambition when you get the chance.  Oh and by the way - don't worry about feling 'old' among the students.  I felt the opposite.  I was treated no different from all the other, younger students both by the students themselves and by the tutors.  To blend in, I began to dress more fashionably and guess what, I neither looked nor felt ridiculous.  I developed new tastes in music and a modern outlook on life.  Best of luch, Scarlett.  Go for it!
when i did my degree there was a 32 in our grop, he was the oldest (and older than some of the lecturers!), but he fitted in with us jsut fine. if anything, people respected him for being wiser than the rest of us and everyone wanted to be in his group as he was the 'cool mature one' who had had proper jobs and done loads of 'grown up' things. Scarlett, they'll love you!
I graduated when I was 36.  Best time of my life and I regret not a minute of it.  I wouldn't have the job I have today, which I love, if I hadn't been to university.  University is much easier when you're older (note I don't say mature).  What have you got to lose?

All I can say (bit to young to draw from experience) is go with your heart. If you believe you will be happier then its always going to be the right choice. You have the means and the drive to do it, not everyone has and I think everyone should have a chance to be happier - don't you?

Life is full of chances we don't take and later regret...

You only live once & if you don't give it a try, you will never know. I gather you don't have any dependants to worry about - so why not. Good luck Scarlett.
