What to do after graduation?
2 Answers
I am due to graduate (in Arts Management) this May but am having a hard time deciding what I should do when I finish. All my friends are in Leicester (where I attend university) and will be next year as well, so staying another year in familiar surroundings with good friends is an option although job prospects are none existant for what I want to do (dance events management/promotion). The alternative is moving away to a larger city on my own where there are better job prospects. The thought of going somewhere and starting all over again really scares me even though I know I'll have to do it eventually. Plus it's not a decision I can leave until the last minute as I need to find a house now if I am to stay in Leicester but if I'm not, then I need to tell my friends so they can find somebody else to live with (not to mention finding a job and somewhere to live if I do move away!). If anybody has any advice for me or if anybody has been in a similar situation then I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

For the sort of thing you will be qualified to do, I suspect the jobs are in the big cities. I think you'll need to start looking at trade magazines to look at job ads; there may be accommodation ads as well. I think the best way is to put feelers out, start speaking to people in the trade or agencies as that's how information comes your way - as a start.
