isn't it in the schools best intrests to get as many students as many gcses at c or above as possible?

But this one person who gets a's in his exams was off sick when the teacher wnated the coursework in, but not the official moderating deadline when it has to be sent away.

Because of this, and the teacher said that his mum could have brought it in (she couldn't possibly because the whole family was ill aswell) he wasn't going to mark it, which meant that it counted as a non submission, so he'll be entered for the foundation paper, can he do this?

cazz, he lives wih his mum and sister, who were all ill, their nearest neighbour lives 1 1/2 away as they live on a farm, and they didn't think it would be a problem (perhaps something similar happened to the sister or with a different project in the past)

well my friend had tonsilitus, and then his mum and sister caught the flu and because she had it and his ammune system was down, he got flu at the same time aswell.

the day he called in sick he should have explained at that point that his coursework was done and asked what options he had.

email / sending with friend / relative / even a taxi as so much was reliant on it.

Tonsillitus does not class as being seriously ill in my books!?

And I have nearly ended up in hospital with it, but it wouldnt really be classed as serious!

they thought that the tonsilitus would be cleared within a week, meaning he would be back before the end of term, but then they all caught the flu.

Technically i'm not moaning, i'm asking if the teacher can do this?

Molly you are not being logical about this, if this friend is normally an A grade student he would be focused about his studies and not fail to submit an important piece of coursework and claim ignorance about the seriousness of a deadline. In other words I don't believe he was at home ill and thinking it didn't matter - not if he's a high achiever anyway. Parents of such a student would also more than likely let the school know about mitigating circumstances.

plus i think you have had your question answered - yes the teacher can do this, and you have had it answered 20 times the same or similar ways. Are you just going to keep arguing the toss till everyone changes their mind? Bearing in mind we are NOT the geog teacher in question i dont really see what the point of changing our minds would be!
