Im sure most people or at least some people on here have seen the ads regarding teaching and the �4000 "Golden Hello" along with other perks, I have done some research and on it and there is a possibility That in about seven years I can follow this path my concerns are will the oppurtunity be around in seven years and its been mentioned that its only open to graduates in england, so does this mean its only teaching in schools in england, or does it mean I have to get my PGCE from a school in england, if anyone has any information on this at all, I'd be really greatful for the help...

You need to check the funding situation carefully as it is likely to change with time and will not apply to all geographical areas of england. At present private English schools may emply whomsoever they wish irrespective of qualifications. State funded schools stipulate certain minimum qualifications and qualifications obtained outside England will have an equivalent somewhere along the scale of acceptability. For example, your qualification may be accepted outright, or it may be that you are asked to do a top-up certificate of some kind.

I wouldnt make life decisions based on 4k.

you might need to check this but i think you get the �4k not for teaching at an english school but doing your PGCE at an english university. i think welsh univeristies are the same as well

Of course, when you're doing your teacher training each university has links with a set number of (normally local) schools. so you would probably be teaching in england/ wales there.

However, once you've done your 1 year PGCE your free to go whereever you want.

As for the funding still being around in 7 years time, there's a good chance it will be, there's a desperate shortage of teachers and the government's doing everything it can to encourage people into the profession - especially science and language teachers.

Why seven years time though? are you still at school? if so, as El D says you should be making the choices on whether you really wnat to the job rather than �4k

I believe you have to work for 2 years in a state school in the subject you qualified in to get the full money bonuses. 

I would say it was unlikely that these bonuses will be so big in 7 years.  I've heard the drive to get new teachers in has been spectacularly successful and the shortage is easing quickly.  Then again maybe they'll all quit after their 2 years in which case yes probably still lots of money perks about!

I'm Definately sure about teaching, and I didnt make the choice based on the money but on the fact that my father and mother are both teachers and Ive thought on and off about for the last few years and came to the logical conclusion that of all the paths I was considering this one made the most sense, as for the seven years, Im must have hit the wrong key as I meant four, seeing next year I will be going to university to do a degree in chemistry...
