cost of maths tuition
4 Answers
I'm a maths teaching assistant but would like to try and make some extra cash out of school by offering myself as a maths tutor for ks3 and gcse. I've had interest already from some of my colleugues friends but am unsure as to what rate i should charge? Has anyone had tutors before and know what the going rate is?
I'm in South London and would most likely travel to their accomodation so i know these need to be taken into account. I would say maybe 16 per hour?

Unqualified teachers at my College get a "demonstrators" rate, which is about 10 an hour. You could always enrol on a part-time PGCE and that way you can justify your more expensive rate, as you will soon be qualified.
