I don't know if it's true or not (check this site: http://www.police-information.co.uk ) you may find the answer on there.

In any case, could you not do a resit?  If you have two years before you are old enough to join, use this time to study hard and retake it!

Sorry, just found another website which says:

Qualifications
There are no formal educational requirements for recruitment to the police service, but applicants must take two written tests to ensure they have a reasonable standard of English, as well as a numeracy test. Youll also need to be able pass our selection process and complete initial training

So the fact that you only got an E won't stop you from gettinginto the Police Force but you will have to pass a numeracy test.

Have you thought about seeing a Maths tutor?  Even if it's just for 1 or 2 lessons? My friend did before her GSCE and got a B but was only predicted a D!  I think it sometimes really helps to have someone explain things a different way.

Thank you for your help sammy snake and guinivere, im consedering to have a maths tutor and that will help me study a bit for for some test. Thank you again for your help x x

I have just recently applied and have not done any maths for 20yr. I went on an entrance course at my local college to assist me with this. I was terrible at maths at school, but doing the course really helped me.I left school with no qualifications but passed the entrance exam and I am about to go for my 1st interview. I would recomend you try the course 1st it was a great help for me. Why dont you join as a cadet. It will get your foot in the back door and thats a great start.

Whether you decide to go with the police or not, most employers/colleges would want you to have a GCSE (A-C) in maths, so I would take the advice above on the tutor - it will be worth it if you are struggling.  Good luck.
