Hi

I have been told that we are losing funding in 5 months and I will be entitled to redundancy. My question is - If I get another job now can I leave and claim my redundancy to the date I leave?

Many thanks

no, you havnt been made redundant yet, you still have a job for the next 5 months.

If you leave now then thats it, you are just changing jobs.
In a word, No.
When BT announced huge redundancies in 1992 they let people leave early if they got other jobs, and still paid out their redundancy money.
but was when people were working their notice period?
No red the people were given approximately 6 months notice that their jobs were going, and if in the interim they found other jobs to go to they could still get redundancy.

It depends. You'll need to ask your employer. They may need you for the next five months, in which case paying you to leave early probably wouldn't be in their interests. If they can get by without you then they may be more amenable to paying your redundancy and saving your actual salary.
