Medical Standard For Taxi Drivers.
4 Answers
I know that each local authority autonomously decides on the medical criteria for its taxi drivers.
I caanot find the criteria for taxi drivers on the Wirral. (Wirral Borough Council).
My son in law who is profoundly deaf since birth wants to apply for a private hire license, so needs to know if he will pass the medical before forking out about £75 for the medical examination.
He has been driving for about ten years.

I ask because the medical examination is one thing, but getting a job is another. Much of private hire work is done over an in-car radio, perhaps having to listen out for a call out to a job (can't just pull up to a rank and pick someone up) Also, he needs to bear in mind that the passengers will be behind him, so if theyy change their destination, or ask hom a question, will that be doable for him?

how is his speech? would he have trouble understanding broken accents or drunken slurring? would the customers have trouble understanding him if he does not speak in a concise manner?
I know it sounds nit picky but you will be surprised how something that is seemingly unimportant can become a big deal.
