I have recently had our old oil fired heating system upgraded, following two site visits prior to work comencing I agreed to their estimate and even allowed them to bring the job forward two weeks to help them out. While doing the work the boss informed me they would have to run a new pipe from our water softener to the new boiler, I asked for a quote twice before this extra work which involved about 20 feet of pipe being installed in our garage being carried out only to find out two days later they had gone ahead and done the extra work already with no quote being given. It was only when we settled the agreed estimate in full that they have tried to add another £370 to our bill, I dont mind paying for the pipe but I am not paying for the labour, would I be in my rights to challenge this bill and if nessesary go to the small claims court if he persues this.
