Parking on broken double yellow
39 Answers
I am finding it difficult to park near my place of work. I have noticed a cul de sac with derelict houses close to town The yellow lines are broken all over the roads there, and have no marked ends as they should have! Am I in my right to park in this area? As I see it they are not solid complete yellow lines at all. Thanks in advance.

There's another similar thread from 6 six years (and plenty on the internet if you google, I just have) - the answer's still no. http://www.theanswerb...l/Question179390.html
Errrr, A worn yellow line is NOT enforceable! to be enforceable the line has to be continuous over it's entire length and has to be properly capped at the ends with a T bar.
That said, if you were to park on it I wouldn't be surprised if you did get a ticket or towed away and then you'd have to prove that the line were not enforceable which would be a lot of hassle and probably not worth the risk (unless you want to do it just to prove a point)

Chuck is correct. If the solid lines are worn and broken with no proper ends the restrictions are not enforceable.
I will just add to Chuck's post that after being ticketed or towed the council will very quickly put new lines down, so it really would be a pointless exercise.
Look on the council's website and search for Off Street Parking Orders. This should tell you if the Order is still valid or has been revoked. If in doubt, phone the council to check.

Just an update....Been parking on broken double yellow lines for a couple of weeks now. I have found out they are in an area that has been de commissioned. Having spoke to the local warden he confirmed that they are not able to ticket people in this area. Hey hey! Just thought all those who guessed or made opinions on the matter may like to know the facts. May be not though!!
