I would like to sue someone who made criminal allegations against me that resulted in charges and a trial. I was acquitted and have evidence that the original allegation was known to be untrue when it was made. My question is can I claim for loss of earnings and damages in the County Court on the basis that the allegations were dishonest and malicious?

The police collected the evidence and presented it to the office of the DPP who decided that there was a fair chance of a conviction and so took it to trial. It can't have seemed malicious to them.
I don't know if you can bring a claim against the person who laid the charge. Even if you did would they be worth suing?
