Placed an order and paid for the item, on the internet on 30/11/11. Item has not been received and I have been unable to contact the company even though I have sent emails and telephoned twice. When you phone you get an ansaphone message Would the local Trading Standards Office be the people to contact regarding this?. I had a look at the address using Google Street View and it appears to be a block of flats. The other odd thing is that the telephone number is not listed on any internet directory enquiry sites. - although I have managed to find the number using a very roundabout method.

This is one reason why I won't ever buy anything over the internet (other than perhaps from individuals on eBay) from any company that I don't know to be reputable.

If you paid by credit card, you may have some redress through your credit card company - check their website and see how you report this. From what you say, it sounds like a scam.
It could well be worth contacting Trading Standards but the first thing they'll say will probably be "Oh no, not another one!". Many Trading Standards departments (covering entire counties) seem to consist of little more than one guy and his admin assistant. They're often swamped with the volume of work. All the same, give it a try.

You've already tried one of my standard checks on web traders (by using Google Street View) but, if you tell us the name of the website, I'll try to see if I can find out anything else.
